SMC 2.0 is the latest addition to the NorthPoint Domain suite of products. The patient-to-practice communication component of the NorthPoint Domain Accelerator Suite, SMC 2.0 offers a secure, structured method for non-urgent electronic communication between patients and their physicians. SMC 2.0 allows patients to request an appointment, request a prescription refill, or ask a non-urgent medical/administrative question. Custom forms are also available. The latest and most popular enhancement is two-way communications that allow physicians and patients to correspond through a secure, HIPAA compliant environment.

Unlike conventional email, SMC 2.0 messages are encrypted, completely protecting them from interception by unintended audiences. SMC 2.0 exceeds the security and encryption requirements of current HIPAA guidelines.
